With just 45 days to go till show time we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that there is still time to take part in the yearly extravaganza that is Opensim Fest 2020. We had such an amazing time last year and the exhibitors did me very proud with their inspiring and creative builds. This year we hope to make it even better than before, building has already started on the grid and I personally love this part of the fest, watching people express themselves using the tools that Opensimulator give all of us to build with. The following post is to give returning and new exhibitors some information about how you can take part this year at Opensim Fest 2020. To see a short video click here.
What is Opensim Fest 2020?
This is our second year of running Opensim Fest and with last years success we are pleased to say that we will be running it again this year. We have a new cohort of the community joining us that has not traditionally been part of the event. So this year we will have builders (Exhibitors), performers, and merchants.
OpenSim Fest 2020 will have 20+ hours of performers, showcase the builds of 40+ exhibitors and 20+ merchants and will be held on the 6th-8th March 2020.
This year the main themes are science fiction, space and "Many worlds, one community the future is in our hands".
New exhibitors
If you did not take part in last years Fest. we would very much like you to take part this year to showcase your little part of the hypergrid you can be an individual, a community group or grid. The first thing that you should do is take a look at the exhibitor section on the taking part page to get some basic started information. If after reading that you want to take part you will need to complete the registration page to create your website account and grid avatar account. You can email me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) as I am happy to walk you through the steps. Once we have that setup you can pick your plot size that you would like. We have 32m - 273 prims, 48m - 610 prims and 64m - 1085 prims plots available.
Returning exhibitors
If you took part last year we would love to have you back this year to be part of Opensim Fest 2020. If you would like to be involved email me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) as you will need to create a new website account but not create an avatar as your account still exists from last year. I do however need to re-link your new website account to your grid avatar account. This only takes a few minutes and its not painful I promise so please dont let that put you off.
I hope that lets you know a little more about what the Fest is, how you can take part and how to get in contact with us. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing what you can add or bring to the Fest this year.
A word on marketing, advertising and promotion
This is relevant for all exhibitors and it is in regards to marketing, advertising and promoting your part of the hypergrid. We all know that there is a mix of personal and professional communities that make up the Opensimulator community. All the organisers see this diversity as a strength of the community but we felt that it was important for exhibitors to focus on their communities rather than the business aspect. So we ask that there is no direct marketing to Fest visitors (for example lists of prices and other commercial information) indirect marketing is ok (for example a prim which when clicked can redirect to your websites).
I admit it is a subtle difference but Opensim Fest is first and foremost a celebration of the communities and the creativity. What we want to focus on is the builds and the people, places and communities that are being represented. The same will be applied to both advertising and promotion please think about indirect approaches to achieve your aim. If you are unsure about your exhibit please email me directly or leave a message in the exhibitor channel on Discord.
If you would like to sell products for Gloebits we have added a merchants region this year and we will have a post soon for that but in the meantime you can contact our merchant organiser Luna Lunaria via email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or on the Discord server (link below).
